KATHMANDU, May 4: Authorities completely closed the Daunne area along the Narayanghat-Butwal section of the East-West Highway after continuous overnight rain made the road dangerously slippery.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhu Nepal, spokesperson for the District Police Office, said vehicles started skidding in the area, which is currently undergoing road expansion, forcing officials to halt all traffic.

He urged travelers to use alternative routes, as the road has become entirely impassable. To expedite the expansion work, officials have already been enforcing a nightly road closure from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM.
DSP Nepal added that the rainfall and road closure have stranded numerous vehicles, leading to a growing traffic backlog.
