Popular online shop, Daraz held a press conference, ‘Daraz Creating Change’ at Kathmandu Mariott Hotel, Naxal on Tuesday. The brand talked about the current working strategies followed by the changes over the years and the company’s goals.

In the conference, Bjarke Mikkelsen, the global CEO of Daraz, shared how the online shop explains itself being a market place and community in one’s pocket. “We provide immediate and easy access to 250,000 products in more than 100+ categories, deliver more than 100,000 packages every month all over Nepal and create job opportunities to the people who can sell,” shared Mikkelsen.

The CEO also talked about the changes in Daraz app that aimed at giving unique experience on using the services. And new features are; Daraz Mall for premium services, voucher module for the deal hunters, pre-payment to enable customers to pay by Debit/Credit card, message center to keep all your information in one place and the instant Q&A feature to allow customers and sellers to interact freely and in real-time.

“Ever since Alibaba acquired Daraz, many things have changed and we are still learning,” he said. “‘Fulfilled by Daraz’ is one of the new things that we have introduced. It’s a premium service where one can place an order and get it delivered straight from our warehouse. It’s fast and easy.”

While most of the people know about Daraz, very few are aware of its learning institute. Named as Daraz University, the brand has been providing courses to the sellers for free. “We are thrilled to share that 2,000 sellers have been educated through Daraz University. You can take a course online or take an appointment with us for a class at our place,” said the CEO.

The managing directors (MDs) of Daraz Nepal shared their aspirations to lead Nepal into Digital Era by 2022, where one of them, Lino Ahlering, talked about having an annual growth of e-commerce, engaging users through convenient service and fully digitalize the logistic system. Daraz is also planning to introduce digital payments to 5 million new customers, said Jai Kavi, MD.

In the conference, Pranaya Ratna Sthapit, General Manager to Samsung Nepal, Anil Khanal, Deputy CEO of Nabil Bank, Buddhi Prasad Upadhyaya, Under Secretary to Ministry of Industry, Commerce & Supplies among others were also present.
