BIRGUNJ, June 6: District Administration Office (DAO), Parsa has decided to provide citizenship by birth in the district starting from Monday.
DAO Parsa issued a notice on Sunday stating that it will provide citizenship by birth from Monday (June 5) to the people who haven’t yet received citizenship certificates.

After President Ram Chandra Paudel authenticated the Citizenship Bill, it took the form of law and was published in the Nepal Gazette as the Citizenship Act. Although the Ministry of Home Affairs had issued circulars to all the 77 DAOs to start distributing citizenship by birth from Sunday, Assistant Chief District Officer of Parsa Bhim Kanta Paudel issued a notice on Sunday and said that the citizenship by birth will be issued from Monday.
The notice states that the service seekers should prepare the necessary documents to get citizenship and bring them to the DAO. Paudel mentioned that according to the new law, the children of citizens who obtained Nepalese citizenship based on birth before September 19, 2015 will get the citizenship by descent at age of 16 after showing the Nepali citizenship of both the father and the mother.
