INARUWA, May 9: Most of the Ayurvedic clinics in Sunsari district are found to be operating illegally.
A monitoring team comprising Sunsari's Assistant Chief District Officer, Munka Neupane, District Ayurvedic Centre, Inaruwa's Chief Dr Surya Narayan Mahato and Dharan Ayurvedic Centre's Ram Babu Yadav on Monday found most of the clinics to be outside the legal periphery.
The government has taken steps to encourage the use of Ayurvedic medicines despite which most of the outlets in the district have been operating illegally.
Assistant CDO Neupane said that during the inspection led by District Administration Office (DAO), Sunsari, herbal clinics in Dharan and Itahari as well as homeotherapy dispensaries and clinics were found to not have followed necessary procedure for operation.
According to the data provided by the District Ayurvedic Health Centre, only five clinics and dispensaries in Sunsari have taken permission for operation whereas there are more than 40 Ayurvedic dispensaries and clinics currently in operation.
Neupane has warned the concerned outlets that they will be subjected to legal action if they do not seek legal permission within days. RSS
