KATHMANDU, Sept 5: Chairperson of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal said that his party would try its best to implement the constitution.

Speaking at the National Conference on Dalit Rights in the capital on Thursday, Chairperson Dahal appealed the people from all walks of life to help his party in a campaign against anti-constitution elements.

Dahal was of the view that the people from the Dalit community should unite to achieving their rights. “It’s a long-term movement, therefore I urge you to remain alert about your rights and move forward in collaboration,” said Dahal.

Speaking in the same event, Former Prime Minister and the Chairman of Federal Council of ruling Socialist Party Nepal Baburam Bhattarai demanded the government to formulate laws ensuring free higher education to the Dalit students in a bid to safeguard their rights.

He said that the eradication of discrimination against Dalit people has remained one of the daunting tasks due to the domination of the Hindu caste-based system.
