DOLPA, Nov 23: A Dalit settlement, comprising 40 households, at Tripurakot VDC-1 in Dolpa district is at high risk of landslide due to the soil erosion.
According to local Tul Bahadur Sarki, the Chalkhad River has been sweeping away more than 10 metres of land in the settlement every year, putting the entire settlement at high risk of landslide.
Locals in the settlement are fearful due to increasing risk. They have been knocking at the door of the local authorities to help mitigate the risk but to no avail, shared another local Man Bahadur Sarki.
Sarki bemoaned that their communities' voices are least heard and they have been forced to live a hard life in the rural areas due to the apathy of the State.
The locals have urged the State to do the needful at the earliest to help prevent consequences caused due to soil erosion. RSS
