KATHMANDU, Sept 4: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Thursday decreased 6.55 points to close at 2,719.77 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,726.33 points and escalated to day’s high at 2,732.76 points in the first three minutes. The index fluctuated with a narrow margin for the next around 40 minutes before heading to a straight fall to hit the day’s low at 2,703.01 points when the last half an hour was left for trading. The market recovered around 16 points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

Two groups—trading and mutual funds—gained 23.46 points and 0.02 points, respectively. Of the 11 losers, life insurance shed the highest of 50.56 points.
The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies declined 1.11 points. The daily turnover inclined to Rs 5.14 billion from Rs 4.72 billion on Wednesday.
Among the individual companies, 85 were gainers while 165 were recorded as losers. Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 353.57 million.
Barahi Hydropower Public Limited had the biggest fall of 3.83 percent in its market value. Him Star Urja Company Limited by adding 9.98 percent was recorded as the highest gainer.
