Daily case count spikes to 5,087 on Friday, 2,607 cases recorded in Valley alone

KATHMANDU, Jan 14: Nepal recorded 5,087 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday along with 306 recoveries and three deaths, according to the latest information provided by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).

KATHMANDU, Jan 14: Nepal recorded 5,087 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday along with 306 recoveries and three deaths, according to the latest information provided by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).


As many as 20,560 swab samples were tested for COVID-19 on the day. Of them, 4,204 PCR and 883 antigen tests turned out to be positive for the deadly virus.

There are currently 18,371 active cases of COVID-19 across the country. Among them, 17,291 are in home isolation, 944 in institutional isolation, 111 in ICUs, and 25 on ventilators. Similarly, 115 people are currently in quarantine facilities. So far, 11,616 people have died of the viral infection across the country.


Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley alone recorded 2,607 cases of the virus on Friday. Of them, 1,913 were recorded in Kathmandu, 317 in Bhaktapur, and 377 in Lalitpur districts.
