Daily case count spikes to 10,258 on Tuesday, 5,549 cases recorded in Valley alone

KATHMANDU, Jan 16: Nepal recorded 10,258 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday along with 562 recoveries and one death, according to the latest information provided by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).

KATHMANDU, Jan 16: Nepal recorded 10,258 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday along with 562 recoveries and one death, according to the latest information provided by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).


As many as 22,828 swab samples were tested for COVID-19 on the day. Of them, 8,730 PCR and 1,528 antigen tests turned out to be positive for the deadly virus.

There are currently 39,223 active cases of COVID-19 across the country. Among them, 37,826 are in self-isolation, 1,218 in institutional isolation, 151 in ICUs, and 28 on ventilators. Similarly, 100 people are currently in quarantine facilities. So far, 11,624 people have died of viral infection across the country.


Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley alone recorded 5,549 cases of the virus on Tuesday. Of them, 4,004 were recorded in Kathmandu, 570 in Bhaktapur, and 975 in Lalitpur districts.
