KATHMANDU, Feb 11: Chairman of the ruling CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has requested Chairman of the main opposition party,  CPN-UML, KP Sharma Oli to take a decision on the US-aid project Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact Agreement.

On Thursday evening, Dahal telephoned Oli and asked him to decide on the MCC, said UML Publicity Department Deputy Chief Bishnu Rijal. In response, Oli said that the UML's stance on MCC was clear. This comes amid preparations of the government to endorse the MCC Agreement through parliament.

According to Rijal, Oli had earlier replied to Dahal to make his own decision first. "You have promised to pass the bill after the removal of KP Oli. After the removal, you have written a letter to the MCC headquarters saying that you will pass it in four or five months," Rijal quoted Oli as saying to Dahal. “First decide for yourself. The CPN-UML will then decide on its own.”

Oli said that the opinion of the CPN-UML was clear whether the question was asked by foreigners or locals. After a long time, UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and Maoist Center Central Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal had a telephone conversation on Thursday.
