KATHMANDU, Dec 25: After the meeting to finalize the power-sharing deal that was underway at the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar was inconclusive, Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Center), Pushpa Kamal Dahal left for Balkot to meet CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli.

According to sources, after things did not work out, Dahal went to Balkot to meet Oli.

The time given by President Bidya Devi Bhandari to the political parties to stake claim to the leadership of the government with a majority is ending at 5 pm today. Even on the seventh day after President Bhandari called for government formation, the political parties have not been able to forge a clear majority.

The meeting of the leaders of the ruling coalition has been going on for a week now. And even today, the leaders of the ruling coalition party were in discussion in Baluwatar.

The leaders have not been able to forge an agreement over government formation because of disagreements over important positions such as Prime Minister, President, Vice President, and Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the parliament.

According to the leaders who participated in the meeting, they agreed to form a government under the leadership of the ruling coalition, but the power-sharing deal has been elusive.

Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the chairman of the third largest party in parliament, the CPN (Maoist Center), is bargaining with the chairman of the second largest party, CPN-UML, KP Sharma Oli, over the formation of the new government.
