KATHMANDU, May 15: Independent Member of Parliament (MP) Amresh Kumar Singh has said “the current political system cannot be saved for too long if those guilty in the fake Bhutanese refugee scam are let go without any meaningful action taken against them.”
Speaking in parliament on Monday, lawmaker Singh said that the Nepali people will no longer have faith in the current system, political parties and politicians if any meaningful action is not taken against the guilty in the infamous financial scams.
“The entire nation is watching. I want to remind everyone that we cannot save democracy and the current political system for too long if the guilty in this scam are let go, without any meaningful action taken against them,” said lawmaker Singh.
Singh also questioned the public prosecutor’s role in prosecuting those accused and arrested in the scam. “Even the police are not happy with the public prosecutor’s role,” he said.
Singh also claimed that efforts were being made to save the culprits and demanded a ruling from the Speaker to make Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal brief parliament on the success made so far against the guilty of the fake Bhutanese refugee scam.
