KATHGMANDU, July 18: Civil Society Alliance for Nutrition Nepal (CSANN) is organizing a four-day Learning Exchange Program from July 17 to 20 in Kathmandu with the main objective of addressing malnutrition-related issues and to share best practices.
This program is being attended by representatives of various nine countries, which are part of the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) alliance. The countries include Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, the Philippines, Myanmar, Krygz Republic, Pakistan and Nepal, according to a press statement issued by CSANN.
The program aims to address five themes, which include decentralized and sub-national level society coordination, citizen's participation and bottom-up advocacy through public hearings, nutrition budget analysis advocacy, breast milk substitute marketing code application and monitoring and coordination of regional efforts.
According to Nepal Demographic Health Survey 2016, 36 percent children below five years are either short or stunted, 27 percent are underweight compared to their height and 10 percent are underweight.
