It remains unclear whether this disappearance is due to technical issues or a deliberate action by Lamichhane. The cricketer had 1.1 million followers on Facebook and over 300,000 on Instagram. The disappearance of the former captain of the national cricket team from the major social media platforms coincided with the announcement of Nepal Premier League naming him the captain of the Biratnagar-based team. Lamichhane was arrested on October 6, 2022, at Tribhuvan International Airport following a complaint filed on September 6, 2022, alleging rape. The court acquitted him in this case on May 15.
