KATHMANDU, Feb 19: The Standing Committee meeting of the ruling CPN (Unified Socialist) held on Saturday decided to let the government table the US-funded Millenium Challenge Corporation (MCC) in parliament as the grant agreement has already been registered at the Parliament Secretariat Office.
Prior to the meeting, the Madhav Kumar Nepal-led CPN (Unified Socialist) stood strongly against the project stating that the compact agreement needed to be amended before tabling it in parliament for ratification.

According to the party, the meeting concluded that the MCC should be allowed to table in parliament for discussion no matter whether it will be ratified or not. The party decided that the decision should be taken for the larger interests of the country only after adequate discussions are held in parliament on it. The CPN (Unified Socialist) has also asserted that the ruling coalition should not break because of the parliamentary ratification of MCC grant deal.
