KATHMANDU, April 26: CPN-UML has perpetuated the act of disrupting the meeting of the Legislature Parliament due to be held to discuss the government’s proposal to add new local units in 11 districts situated in low-lying region of the country on Wednesday also.
At the outset of the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Kamal Thapa tried to appease disgruntled CPN-UML by saying that the decision to add new local units in Terai region is the price they were reduced to paying to obtain what he described as “achievement”-the readiness of Madhes-centric parties to partake in the local polls.
However, Lawmakers representing CPN-UML did not find convincing his clarification of the circumstance that led to the government's proposal to add new political units. Citing that DPM Thapa’s response is unconstitutional and indicative of legal error, CPN-UML decided to perpetuate the act of disrupting the meeting of Legislature parliament.
