KATHMANDU, Feb 28: Prime Minister and Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Center), Pushpa Kamal Dahal, reiterated the party’s commitment to contesting the upcoming election to the post of Chairman of the National Assembly.
Speaking at the party’s Standing Committee meeting on Wednesday, Chairman Dahal affirmed the party’s intention to vie for the prestigious position.

During Tuesday’s meeting, party leaders had urged Chairman Dahal to assert the party’s claim to the chairmanship of the Upper House of the Federal Parliament.
In a parallel development, the Nepali Congress, a coalition partner of the Maoist Center, has also announced its intention to compete for the position.
The party is expected to nominate Krishna Prasad Sitaula as its candidate in the election to the Chairman of the National Assembly slated for March 12.
