KATHMANDU, Dec 27: CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that he would personally review the reasons for the party's weakness through this general convention.

Addressing the inaugural session of the party’s Eights General Convention held on Sunday, Chairman Dahal said that it was high time for the party to review the shortcomings to strengthen the party. “Where did we go wrong in the peace process? In his political report, Dahal said that he had criticized himself the most. “We are ourselves the cause of the deterioration of the Maoist Center,” Dahal has said. Dahal has maintained that the General Convention will provide impetus to those who want to strengthen the communist movement.

The closed session of the eighth National General Convention of the CPN (Maoist Center) began at 11 AM today in Kathmandu in which the political report of Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal, statute and other reports will be presented for discussions.

Chairman Dahal also said that there was no mistake in uniting with the then CPN-UML. “We did not make a mistake by uniting the party with CPN-UML. This needs to be reviewed,” said Dahal. He, however, said that the unification of the two parties reached for the sake of stability and socialism in the country failed to last for long.
