KATHMANDU, June 25: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has accused Chairman of CPN (Maoist) Pushpa Kamal Dahal of splitting the erstwhile Nepal Communist Party (NCP). Chairman Oli said that the party was united but faced a split after Dahal failed to demonstrate sincerity.

Speaking at a function at the party's central office in Chyasal on Friday, Oli also complained that he was saddened by Dahal's submission of the party to the reactionaries. Oli claimed that Dahal had expelled him from the ranks of ordinary members by abusing the number of seats given to him during the unification of the party.

He said, "We did not chase Dahal and unity had been achieved with him. However, he did not work with sincerity and decided to separate dishonestly. The committee formed for unity, the number of seats given for unity, was misused in such a way that even the party president was expelled from the general membership. He made a bundle of serious allegations against the party president and with those allegations, he split the party. This is such a tragedy.”

Chairman Oli also claimed that his party would win the upcoming elections even if it lagged behind during the local level election as other parties misused their power. He reiterated that his party is still the largest political force in the country in terms of popular votes.
