LAHAN, Aug 17: A COVID-19 patient died at Provincial Hospital Janakpur on Monday.


The 50-year old deceased from Dhanauji Rural Municipality-3 of Dhanusha district succumbed to COVID-19 while undergoing treatment. He was admitted to Provincial Hospital on August 15 and was subsequently tested positive for the virus on the same day.

According to Provincial Hospital Coordinator Dr Jamuna Prasad Singh, the man was suffering from pneumonia and his dead body was cremated by a team of Nepal Army personnel.


With this, COVID-19 death toll in Province 2 had reached 47 as of Monday.


Meanwhile, the local administration has enforced curfew order in all districts except for Siraha as the cases of COVID-19 have increased sharply in recent days.


Saptari, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Bara, Parsa and Rautahat are under curfew orders.


According to the Chief District Officer of Siraha, Pradipraj Kandel, the District Crisis Management Committee has also decided to enforce lockdown in all 17 local units of the district from Aug 17 to Aug 31. Security personnels have been deployed in Lahan Municipality in the district for the effective implementation of lockdown orders in the area.
