Today is the 57th of the nationwide lockdown. But I do not feel the reason to complain about the situation. Reclining on my comfortable red chair sunken in the middle of my garden, I feel peace and calm. The rare reverberation of the chirping birds, so distinct from the times when the world just made it hard to indulge, in nature through the overshadowed cacophony outside gives one inner peace.

Life has changed for many. Apart from the loss of businesses and halt to our future plans, we can always unearth the positives in every story. Social distancing has made me recognize my inner soul and true-self. In the midst of all the hustles and bustles, fate has purposefully stagnated our lives to give us a break. A break to replenish ourselves and the goodness of nature.

The breeze of the evening air is fresh and natural. The skies seem clear, as if I could reach those fluffy white clouds; with no hindrances from the thick layers of dust and pollution. Even the silhouette of the trees seem artistic and surreal. The leaves and flowers appear to be blossoming as never before. They are shining with vibrant colors, flaunting their beauty.

To be able to have gatherings or even visiting a neighbor has been difficult at this point. But it is what it is. Acceptance has always been the guardian of peace of our minds.

Minor but significant awareness that I explored about myself has been to enjoy my own company. Never did I think that I would rejoice to this level. Of course there are the usual duties of our normal lives, from household chores, online sessions to work/ academic deadlines, so on and so forth. Having a good read every morning with my bare feet, soaking the essence of vitamin D has been a pleasure. It has increased my wisdom and love for reading. Nevertheless, a succession of binge-watching movies, series, and documentaries have become my thing. I believe there is always something to learn from our surroundings and anything we observe. Every day has been a purposeful one.

Spending time with the family has created a great sense of bonding, sharing interests and having deep conversations. Also, nurturing oneself with proper health care routine and enhancing my long lost skills have been worthy. As an art enthusiast, I have always loved paintings and sketches.

For some it could be just a waste of their days, lingering around the house. For others, it is a perfect way of detoxifying. It is all about perspectives on how we live our lives and make every second a blessing. I consider the last 55 days of lockdown an opportunity to unravel the other side of me, as well as a chance to explore myself like never before.

I am thankful for this stubborn social distancing happening throughout the world.
