BIRATNAGAR, Sept 27: The number of people dying of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has reached 63 in Province 1 after a man infected with coronavirus died in Biratnagar on Saturday night.
The 47-year-old man from Kankai-9, Jhapa, breathed his last at the Koshi Hospital at 11PM on Saturday, according to Gyan Bahadur Basnet, chief of the District Public Health Office. “The COVID-19 patient died on the hospital premises as he was being taken out from an ambulance,” Basnet said.
The man was diagnosed with coronavirus last month after he developed virus-like symptoms such as fever and general body fatigue. Then he was admitted to Mechi Hospital for treatment.
On Saturday, the man was rushed to Koshi Hospital in Biratnagar as his health further worsened.
As of today, Province 1 has recorded 63 deaths including 18 females and 45 males. Of the deceased, 50 were residents of the province while the rest hailed from other provinces.
