Court remands three accused in human trafficking case to judicial custody

The Kathmandu District Court has ordered that three individuals arrested on charges of creating fake documents and engaging in human trafficking and smuggling to Japan be remanded in custody for trial.

KATHMANDU, Nov 30: The Kathmandu District Court has ordered that three individuals arrested on charges of creating fake documents and engaging in human trafficking and smuggling to Japan be remanded in custody for trial.  


A single bench of Judge Balram Lamsal has ordered the remand of Mahesh Pandey, 34, from Tripurasundari Rural Municipality-6, Dhading; Jugal Rijal, 22, from Bidur Municipality-7, Nuwakot; and Bir Bahadur Sunuwar, 30, from Jiri Municipality-9, Dolakha, in custody for trial.

Similarly, an order has been given to release three individuals on bail and two others on their own recognizance. In this case, all four individuals, including Lila Ballabh Adhikari, the Minister for Internal Affairs and Law of Koshi Province, were held and deported by Japan's immigration authorities.  


After the deportation, the Department of Immigration assigned three individuals to the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office for further investigation.  


Meanwhile, the District Government Attorney's Office decided not to file a case against former Koshi Provincial Government minister Adhikari.
