Court orders police to release NC lawmaker Sharma from custody, continue investigation against him

KATHMANDU, Aug 12: The Kathmandu District Court has ordered the police to conduct an investigation against Nepali Congress lawmaker Dr Sunil Sharma after releasing him from custody.

KATHMANDU, Aug 12: The Kathmandu District Court has ordered the police to conduct an investigation against Nepali Congress lawmaker Dr Sunil Sharma after releasing him from custody.


The District Court, Kathmandu ordered the release of Dr Sharma, who was taken into custody on Thursday in connection with forged academic certificates.

SP Nabraj Adhikari at CIB stated that the court has granted 5 to 7 days of remand for others while ordering the release of lawmaker Sharma from custody. Sharma, along with several other individuals, is accused of using fake academic certificates in the process of pursuing or obtaining an MBBS degree.


CIB officials mentioned that numerous individuals have been arrested as part of the ongoing operation against individuals with fake medical certificates. According to sources, the CIB had placed 15 doctors under surveillance, of whom seven have been arrested so far.
