Council of Ministers' meeting: Appointment in various agencies

KATHMANDU, Feb 27: The last meeting of the Council of Ministers held on February 24 has made decisions on appointments and nominations in various government agencies.

Towards that, the government decided to form a team that would represent Nepal in the upcoming 5th meeting of Commerce Joint-Secretary Level Technical Committee of Nepal and Bangladesh.

Unveiling the decisions made here today, Minister for Finance and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada shared that an eight-member team, led by Secretary at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies Dr. Baikuntha Aryal, would be formed for the same.

The meeting also decided to nominate Shova Budhathoki (Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC)-14), Narayan Nepal (KMC-16) and Uddav Chandra Ghimire (Biratnagar-4) as the members of the Nepal Law Commission.

Likewise, Rama Shrestha (Lalitpur), has been nominated in the National Judicial Academy from the female quota, Harindra Rai(Khotang) from indigenous quota and Bhojma Lamgade (Ilam) from Dalit quota.

The committee formed to manage troubled cooperatives would get Kumar Prasad Pokharel, former Chief Justice of the High Court in Dipayal, as its Chairperson while Tika Budhathoki, Mamata Devi Sharma Upadhyay and Saraswati Devi Bhattarai as its members.

Similarly, Mahendra Kumar Thapa Chettri (Lalitpur) has been decided as the member of the committee formed to investigate public and Guthi (trust) land sale cases. It was shared that Committee's member Jagat Deuja has tendered his resignation from his post.

Pushparaj Khanal (Kapilvastu) has been appointed registrar of Nepal Health Professional Council. Dr. Sunanda Sundas (Bhojpur), Dr. Rakshya Shrestha and Dr. Kailash Kumar Bhandari (Sunsari), Dr. Binayak Kumar Thakur (Dhanusha) and Ram Prasad Neupane and Nisha Adhikari (Chitwan) have been nominated to the Chitwan-based BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital's Board of Directors.

Sanjeev Kumar Pandey (Mahottari) has been appointed as the registrar of the Nepal Pharmacy Council.

According to Minister Khatiwada, approval was granted to launch new academic programs for the various colleges such as Khwopa College of Engineering in Bhaktapur. Dr. Swayam Prakash Shrestha, Dr. Yuganath Ghimire, Dr. Binayak Prasad Rajbhandari, Govinda KC, Krishna Prasad Poudel, Chunna Prasad Sharma and Yamuna Ghale have been nominated as Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC) members for a two-year term, said the Minister.
