KATHMANDU, Feb 18: The 15th edition of International Trade fair and Cottage Industry Festival is being organized in March with the objective of achieving better management of small scale industries in Nepal and market homegrown products.
Organizing a press meet in Kathmandu, officials of Federation of Nepalese Cottage and Small Industries (FNCSI) said that the event will start from March 7. Umesh Prasad Singh, president of FNCSI, said that the main objective of the event was to highlight the importance of more than 400,000 cottage and small industries across the country to achieve the government plan of 'Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali'.
Cottage industry festival to be held in February next year
"Cottage and small scale industries hold immense potentials in Nepal. However, these industries lack competitive edge that small businesses have elsewhere in the world," he said, adding: “As a result, the sector has lost its lure among the young generation."
Singh further added that the expo would be useful to find solution to problems being faced by cottage and small scale industries.
The expo will showcase products of cottage and small scale industries across the country.
According to Singh, they will also held discussion on strategies for effective marketing of products of cottage and small industries.
