Coordination among federal, state, local govts needed for development: NCP Chair Dahal

CHITWAN, June 24: Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chairperson and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has stressed the need for coordination among federal, state and local levels to carry out development activities in a way the people can feel it.

Development and prosperity would be possible in coordination with all three levels, he said while addressing the third town assembly of Madi municipality on Monday. He compared changes now with that in the past and concluded that the changes at present were qualitative. He also referred to the changes that have taken place following the overthrow of 104 years' monarchy.

On Bandarmude incident where 39 people were killed and 72 others injured when the then Maoist rebels ambushed an overcrowded bus at Bandarmude in Madi, Chitwan on June 6, 2005, Dahal said work was being moved ahead as per the agreement struck with the incident victims.

The federal government has started the process to construct a park in Madi as per the agreement in memory of those victimized by the ambush. The project costs Rs 100 million. He urged state and local governments to help with his plan to develop Madi village.
