The formation of the probe committee has been agreed upon by both ruling parties and the opposition; however, the specific scope of its inquiry remains undefined. The opposition party, Nepali Congress (NC), insists that Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane, allegedly linked to the fraud, must be specifically mentioned in the mandate.
The ruling party's reluctance to accommodate this demand has caused disruptions in the parliamentary sessions. To resolve this, a four-member committee led by Law Minister Padam Giri has been tasked with finalizing the mandate. The committee's members include Jiwan Pariyar representing Nepali Congress, Mahesh Bartaula from CPN-UML, and Shishir Khanal from Rastriya Swatantra Party.
