LAHAN, Sept 21: Lahan bazaar has been inundated due to heavy rainfall since early morning. The market area has been inundated owing to the worn-out drainage system in the town. The water has entered the office buildings and inner settlement of the town.
The Highway has turned out to be a pool of water after the drainage system failed to drain out the rainwater. “There is a pool of water on the highway collected from the rainfall and it entered the shops and houses nearby," Manoj Bhagat, a shopkeeper, told Republica Online, adding, “the municipality only collects taxes but does not provide services.”

The irrigation canal in the inland settlement has turned out to be a garbage.
With the heavy rainfall, the contaminated water has entered the houses and shops through the canals. “The municipality has been a mute spectator on the woes of Lahan denizens even after the town is waterlogged,” Bishnu Paswan, a local, bemoaned.
