TAPLEJUNG, July 2: By managing the penstock pipe used by the hydropower project, construction of a temporary diversion has been started again at Hewa Khola in Panchthar.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Hari Khatiwada of the District Police Office, Panchthar, said that this effort was made to avoid the immediate shortage of LPG for cooking in Taplejung.

"Vehicles loaded with gas cylinders have been kept on the Panchthar side of Henwa Khola. As soon as the diversion work is completed, we will send some materials along with gas cylinders to Taplejung," he said.
Khatiwada said that they are going to restart the traffic through the temporary diversion by managing the diversion with hume pipes. He said that efforts are being made to start traffic through temporary diversion from Sunday.
After the collapse of the motorable bridge over Hewa Khola of Panchthar, several hotels in the Taplejung area have discontinued providing cooked meals to customers due to a shortage of LPG supply.
Dinesh Khawas, president of Hotel Association Nepal, Taplejung, says that now there is an extreme shortage of cooking gas in hotels. He says that now the problem will appear in most of the hotels and houses where this shortage remains. Earlier, the traffic service that had started for some time was disrupted after the diversion made by hume pipes was swept away by the swollen Hewa Khola.
