KATHMANDU, May 26: The Nakkhu-Bhainsepati road in Lalitpur, which has not been completed even after the construction started a long time ago, is going to be completed by Jestha (mid-June).

It can be seen that some progress is being made on the paved road for the past two months. Sushil Babu Dhakal, director general of the road department, said that looking at the current pace of work, it would not take long to complete the main road. He said, "Except for some auxiliary work, it seems that the main work will be completed soon."

Although the road construction was going to be completed some time ago, the Kathmandu Valley Road Expansion Project has been stating that the delay occurred due to the pipe-laying work of Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL). KUKL is still laying the water pipes.

Keshav Kumar Sharma, secretary of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, said that due to the leakage of the pipe on the project site, the construction was halted. He mentioned that there has been progress in the construction recently and due to this, the rest of the road works will be completed soon.

The government has been showing interest in the delay in the construction of the Nakkhu-Bhainsepati road. Deputy Prime Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha, who previously held the responsibility of the ministry, had made several on-site inspections as well. The Physical Infrastructure Minister Prakash Jwala has also inspected the road twice.

The construction work of the five kilometer long road started on June 2016. It was mentioned in the contract agreement that the width of the road will be 20 meters and structures such as rainwater pipes and footpaths will be built along the road. Ashish Plant CM JV and Pappu Mahalakshmi Worldwide JV were said to construct 3.5 km road and 1.5 km road respectively.
