Construction of bridge over Bhotikhola River starts

POKHARA, Oct 26: The much-awaited construction of a motorable bridge over the Bhotikhola River in Pokhara Metropolitan City-19 started from Thursday.

The foundation stone of the bridge, which is along the Lamachaur-Machhapuchhre Roadway, was laid by Mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City, Man Bahadur GC on Thursday.

Speaking at the event, Mayor GC said the metropolitan city is constructing the bridge with the tax paid by the local people. "The metropolitan city is spending the tax paid by residents for the development of infrastructural projects. This year, the metropolitan city is constructing seven others bridges in the region," he said, requesting the residents to inspect the project as it is being constructed with the tax collected from them.

Likewise, Dhurba Bhattarai, an engineer of Pokhara Metropolitan City, said that the bridge will be 25-meter long and 7.5 meter wide. "Shree Geeta Construction bagged the contract to construct the bridge at an estimated cost of Rs 23.8 million," Bhattarai said.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Shree Geeta Construction was signed on August 22. As per the agreement, the construction of the 
bridge should be completed within December 2019.

According to Shree Geeta Construction, it will complete the construction before the deadline. Likewise, Shova Mohan Paudel, ward chairman of Pokhara Metropolitan-19, said that the metropolis is focused on developing infrastructure in all wards.
