Besides the Tarai Madhes Democratic Party, National People’s Front, CPN-ML and a few fringe parties, none of the major parties sent their top leaders in Tuesday’s meeting. After failing to gather top party leaders on a single day, the committee decided to call them on different dates.
The consultation will begin with the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) on Wednesday and continue until April 2. “The preliminary draft will be prepared after compilation of the suggestions coming from the parties,” said Madhav Nepal, chairperson of the committee.
Several members suggested the committee to prepare the draft only after studying reports prepared by 40 teams deployed across the country for opinion collection. They have argued that tabulating and analyzing data from the questionnaires was a tough job.
