Constitution embraces democratic values: Ambassador Khatiwada

Washington DC, Sept 21: Nepali Ambassador to the US, Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada has said that Nepal's constitution has embraced democratic values along with the citizen's rights and human rights.

At a program organized by the Nepali Embassy on the occasion of Constitution Day, Ambassador Khatiwada said the constitution has regarded equality, social justice and unity among diversity as its major principles.

On the occasion, he also extended gratitude to the US government for its humanitarian assistance and partnership in Nepal's development. The program was also attended by the US government representatives. 

Also speaking on the occasion, the US representatives said Nepal and the US had long friendly and cordial relations. The US is always ready to extend support and assistance to Nepal for its democracy and prosperity.

The event was also attended by representatives of the diplomatic missions in Washington DC, US government officials, representatives of the Nepali community and media persons.

The program was held briefly in view of the COVID-19.
