NEPALGUNJ, Sept 18: Member of Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal (RJP-N Presidium, Rajendra Mahato, has said that constitution amendment was the main agenda of the party.
Talking to media persons in Nepalgunj, leader Mahato said that the Constitution has failed to address the rights of Madhesi, Dalits and indigenous communities as it was incomplete.
Leader Mahato further said that they are not going to observe the Constitution Day as a festival since the constitution was not timely revised.
Recalling that they launched agitation for six months, demanding constitution amendment, he said they have supported the incumbent government from outside as constitution amendment was the main agenda of the party rather than joining the government.
The RJP-Nepal Presidium Member said, "Supporting the incumbent government is not a crime. We supported it to make the two-thirds majority government stronger."
Saying although the RJP-N held discussion with Communist Party of Nepal time and again over the issue of constitution amendment, no trustworthy environment was created for the same, leader Mahato expressed the view that there should be written commitment regarding constitution amendment. RSS
