“We celebrated the red panda's birthday by cutting a cake. The celebration was organized to spread awareness about conservation of the endangered animal,” said Chief Conservation Officer Yuwaraj Regmi of Langtang National Park. “It always helps in conservation efforts if we find new ways to draw public attention. We'll give continuity to such functions in the coming days.”

The function was jointly organized by the District Coordination Office, Rasuwa, Langtang National Park, and Langtang Area Conservation Concern Society. Five rural municipalities, various non-governmental organizations and hydropower project had funded the celebration.

Langtang National Park is a habitat to over 80 red pandas.
