Conference to mark Marx's bicentennial birth anniversary

KATHMANDU, Dec 26: Karl Marx Bicentennial Ceremony National Conference Organizing Committee is all set to bring senior leaders of all the communist parties in Nepal together on Monday to discuss Marxism and Nepali society.

The committee will hold a two-day conference on Monday and Tuesday in Kathmandu and discuss various political and social issues from the Marxist lenses. The committee led by CPN-UML Deputy General Secretary Ghanashyam Bhusal was formed last year to mark the bicentennial birth celebration of Karl Marx, the political philosopher who propounded socialism.

According to Bhusal, Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal will inaugurate the conference on Monday. The conference will be addressed by CPN UML Senior Leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhalanath Khanal, CPN (Samyukta) leader Bishnu Bahadur Manandhar, Rastriya Janamorcha leader Chitra Bahadur KC, CPN (ML) General Secretary CP Mainali, Nepal Workers and Peasants Party Chairman Narayanman Bijukchhe and others.

The conference is said to discuss papers prepared by Mohan Bikram Singh, Pradeep Gyawali, Surendra Kumar Karki, Dr Bijay Paudel, Bishwa Bhakta Dulal, Beduram Bhusal on issues ranging from future of socialism to Marxist culture.
The conference will declare further programs to celebrate bicentennial birth year of Karl Marx in Nepal and declare a steering committee for holding those programs. Karl Marx was born in May 5, 1818 in Germany.
