Conference on Management Education kicks off

KATHMANDU, Mar 7: The Uniglobe International Management Conference on Recent Advances in Management: Challenges, Initiatives and Road Ahead (UIMC- RAM-2018) kicked off on Tuesday at the premises of Uniglobe College in New Baneshwar.


The conference is a two-day event where national and international students are scheduled to present more than 90 papers on different issues of management, banking, marketing, finance, human resources and corporate social responsibility, among which half of the papers were presented on the first day in three different parallel sessions.


The event saw a participation of more than 250 people from countries including Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Slovenia and Pakistan.

Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank and Chief Guest for the event Dr Chiranjibi Nepal inaugurated the event. In his address, Nepal said the country needed to deepen its understanding of management and stressed the need to solve human resource problems for better future. He added that the ideas shared at the event would be useful for the participants.


According to the organizers, the event is a platform to spread knowledge about various aspects of business management and they believe that the event would help bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practicalities.


Faculty of Social Sciences and Professor at University of Ljubljana (Slovenia) Dr Rado Bohinchas was the keynote speaker and he talked about how important it was for a country and more so for Nepali market to understand banking and its issues.


Similarly, Prof Dr Santosh Tripathy from Department of PMIR, Utkal University (India); Dr Amiya Kumar Mohapatra of Fortune Institute of International Business (India); Dr Md Moazzam Husain, professor and chairman of Department of Management at University of Chittagong (Bangladesh) along with Former Vice-Chancellor and Prof VN Rajasekharan Pillai of Mewar University (India) also addressed the event talking about the importance of students’ participation in such international conferences, along with issues like effects of globalization and information technology, and ways to improve the sector in South Asian countries.   


Uniglobe College Chairman Dr KhagendraOjha, Conference Chair Prof Dr Radhe S Pradhan and College Principal Dr Nar Bahadur Bista also spoke at the event and highlighted about its importance for the students and the participants alike.


The first day also comprised a panel discussion on management issues — Challenges and Opportunities with Radhe S Pradhan, Post Doctorate Fellow at Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University, Dr Rachana Kumari (India), Dr MdMoazzam Husain, Dr Parmeswar Nayak of BIMTEC (India) and Uniglobe College Faculty Dr Kishor Adhikari. The ensemble discussed history, status, significance, problems and the way ahead in management education of Nepal. The discussion extended to an interactive program with open floors for a Q&A session.


Once the formal program ended, the participants enjoyed a cultural program conducted and performed by students of the college. Organizers said they were expecting more participation in the second day of the event.


The very first edition of the conference was held in June, 2012.
