KATHMANDU, Jan 14: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Lek Raj Batta said that the concept of the industrial village is aimed at minimizing the growing trade deficit in the country.
Signing a deal with the representatives of local governments for the 'Industrial Village Development and Establishment Program' at his ministry on Tuesday, Minister Batta stated that the program aims to make the entire country self-reliant in agriculture.
"We are importing everything from India. Time has come for us to become self-reliant in agriculture," he said.
Addressing the program, Batta said that Nepal has been unable to exploit its abundant natural resources. "Let's not only make hue and cry for the ballooning trade deficit," he said.
Likewise, he also urged one and all to make a contribution to minimizing trade surplus from their own individual level as well.
