Computerized system installed at Gongabu bus park to ease services

KATHMANDU, August 15: The  Gongabu Bus Park has installed a new computerized system for ticket booking for people traveling to various parts of Nepal. A joint agreement was reached between Kathmandu Metropolitan City and Lhotse Multipurpose Pvt Ltd to provide the services by the buspark using computer technology. The Gongabu bus station has been operational since 1999.

With this, passengers will be able to get detailed information regarding the arrival and departure times of the buses, including the number of passengers a bus will be carrying. The new system will also help to purchase the available tickets accordingly. 

All kinds of buses from as many as 65 districts have been using the bus station in the capital. The 32 ticket counters of the station have started to take ticket orders through the new computerized system. 

Lhotse Multipurpose has also started to provide services like food and lodging to drivers, conductors and passengers at an affordable price on the premises of the bus station. 

The Gongabu bus station had remained shut for eight months due to the spread of the COVID-19. According to Lhotse Multipurpose, the bus station faced a loss of over Rs 200 million during the period. 

Lhotse Multipurpose Pvt Ltd has the contract to operate the bus station till 2045, after which the bus park will be handed over to the Kathmandu Metropolis along with the physical infrastructures.
