KATHMANDU, Dec 12: Experts have emphasized that the government should tackle the issue of road safety seriously as demand for road safety is growing in Nepal.

Due to insufficient funding and resources for road safety, experts have expressed concern that the number of accidents on roads is escalating. They said that even though foreign countries have started reducing road accidents and moving toward a zero accident plan, Nepal has not been able to mobilize the necessary resources and tools for road safety.

They urged that Nepal should make efforts to reduce accidents and give priority to road safety. Road safety expert Dr Pushpa Raj Pant emphasized that Nepal should take road safety seriously. He said that even though the incidents of road accidents are increasing in Nepal on a daily basis, there is no necessary management for road safety.

He said that the government is failing to spend the budget received for road safety in order to provide road safety signs and training.
