KATHMANDU, Nov 19: A total of two complaints have been filed against the candidates for the by-elections scheduled for December 1. These complaints will be investigated today, and decisions will be made, followed by the publication of the final list of candidates.
Nominations for the by-election were made on November 17. A total of 410 candidates registered for the by-elections across 44 positions in 33 districts. If there were any complaints against candidates, the designated time for filing complaints was from 10 am to 3 pm on Sunday.
Complaints filed against two National Assembly candidates
However, the Election Commission (EC) has stated that only two complaints have been filed in Ward No 5 of Sani Bheri Municipality in Rukum West.
According to the EC, complaints were lodged against Nepali Congress candidate Motiraj Khatri and CPN (Maoist Center) candidate Jasiram Basnet. The complaint against Khatri claims he is a teacher, while the complaint against Basnet alleges he is a businessman.
According to the EC’s schedule, there is time to investigate and make a decision on the complaints until 5 pm today. The final list of candidates will then be published by the election officer's office by 6 pm.
Voting will take place on December 1, from 7 am to 5 pm.
