KATHMANDU, August 15: The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) is organizing the Nepal Infrastructure Summit (NIS) - 2022 on September 8 in Kathmandu.

Through the two-day long fourth edition of the summit, the umbrella organization of the private sector expects to promote investment for the construction of sustainable infrastructure in the country. The CNI, in collaboration with the Investment Board of Nepal and the Youth Community for Nepalese Contractors, is organizing the summit on the theme ‘Infrastructure for Growth.’

Nepal has targeted to achieve an economic growth rate of eight percent in 2022/23. A significant investment in infrastructure development is a key to achieve the ambitious growth target at a time when the country is moving on a recovery path following the devastating impacts of coronavirus in the economy.

According to a CNI-issued press statement, the summit will focus on identifying the main hurdles of infrastructures like transport, energy, urban development, drinking water and sanitation, among others. Likewise, the meeting will render priority to facilitate private sector’s investment in infrastructure. The summit will also focus on promoting the main agendas of the Sustainable Development Goals that include infrastructures related to green development, climate change and upliftment of poor people.

The NIS-2022 is expected to incorporate over 600 participants from 25 countries.
