CMC’s vendors seek govt assurance on payment

KATHMANDU, Dec 26: Local suppliers and vendors of CMC claim that the Italian contractor owes them around Rs 1.5 billion in payments.


They fear that they are at the risk of losing the amount that the CMC owes to them because of the government’s inaction against the troubled contractor.

As many as 42 companies, including Bira Motors, Jyotishree, BM Enterprises, Megatech Hydro and Infrastructure, HG Enterprises, Jalpa Infrastructure, organized a press meet in Kathmandu on Tuesday to draw attention of the government toward their problem. 


They also asked the government to ensure that they will be paid even if the contract signed with the Italian contractor is terminated. The government should pay us by using performance bond pledged by the contractor, they added.


These companies have also formed a struggle committee, CMC Affected Nepali Companies, to lobby with the government for release of payments that CMC owe to them.
