SINDHUPALCHOWK, Jan 1: The First National Climate Change Summit organized at Gufadanda in Melamchi Municipality-9 in Sindhupalchowk district ended on Tuesday with a 10-point 'Common Sindhu' declaration.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari had inaugurated the National Climate Change Summit-2075 on Monday. The two-day-long summit was organized by the District Coordination Committee Federation with managerial support from the DCC, Sindhupalchowk around the slogan- 'Clean Nepal, Healthy Nepali'.
Three government representatives each from all 77 districts including chiefs, deputy chiefs of DCC and a third official participated in the Conference.
`The 10-point declaration includes giving emphasis on awareness raising by doing researches on the impact of climate change in the social lives as well as formulating policies and programmes with top priority to the community-based climate resilience and mitigation measures.
Chief of Sindhupalchowk DCC and coordinator of the programme management committee Krishna Gopal Tamang said that the conference ended by drawing common understanding on ways to containing the rising global temperature.
The participants have also vowed to prevent massive industrial pressure, environmental degradation and uncontrolled exploitation of the natural resources taking place in the world since such activities have had serious impacts in Nepal as well.
