KATHMANDU, May 13: An anti-corruption demonstration was held in Maitighar Mandala from 11 am on Saturday.
This comes in the wake of news coming to the public that an organized gang involving ministers and top bureaucrats was involved in sending people to various countries including the US in the name of Bhutanese refugees by taking millions of rupees from those aspiring to go abroad. Police have already arrested 12 people including former Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand and former Home Secretary Tek Narayan Pandey in connection with the incident.
The demonstration was held in Kathmandu to exert pressure on the government to not spare anyone involved in corruption cases. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane, lawmaker Sumana Shrestha and Dr. Govind KC, among others, were present in the demonstration in solidarity to their demand to bring all those involved in corruption to justice.
