KATHMANDU, Feb 17: Claiming that the results of the exams conducted for the post of assistant lecturer at Tribhuvan University (TU) last November were published violating merit, the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Wednesday seized the answer sheets of the exams.

CIAA Spokesperson Jib Raj Koirala said that the constitutional anti-corruption body raided TU and seized the answer sheets following complaints of irregularities in the results. “We have started an investigation into the case,” he added.
TU authorities were delaying to issue appointment letters to the candidates who passed the exams taken by the TU Service Commission last November. A total of 1,175 candidates under the internal competition category and 457 candidates under the open competition category had passed the exams.
The CIAA seized the answer sheets of 22 subjects including journalism, sociology, anthropology, physics, chemistry and food technology out of exams taken for 68 subjects in the internal and open categories.
TU authorities were criticized for violating merit and recruiting 1,117 permanent teachers, who were earlier hired on contract.
