KATHMANDU, Aug 3: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case against the chief of the Sub-Division Forest Office in Bandipur, Siraha, for allegedly accepting a Rs 12,000 bribe from a service seeker.
The anti-graft body filed the charge sheet at the Special Court against office chief Ram Keval Rai Yadav, an eighth-level officer.
According to the CIAA, the investigation was launched following a complaint that Yadav demanded a bribe while verifying whether timber imported for industrial use matched the official seals and before returning the relevant documents to the service seeker.

The investigation found that Yadav demanded and accepted Rs 12,000 on various pretexts in exchange for preparing the official report required after opening the seals of trucks carrying timber to a wood-processing industry.
The CIAA has charged him under Section 3(1) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2002, seeking recovery of the Rs 12,000 bribe along with imprisonment and a fine as provided by law.
