CIAA files cases against 17 persons including ex-TMO chiefs and 10 other officials, accused of issuing fake driving licenses

KATHMANDU, June 21: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed cases at the Special Court against 17 individuals, accusing them of making fake driving licenses.

KATHMANDU, June 21: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed cases at the Special Court against 17 individuals, accusing them of making fake driving licenses.


Of the accused, 12 are the officials of the Transport Management Office (TMO), Ekantakuna, including two former chiefs, and five are the middlemen. According to the CIAA, the accused were found manipulating the details of the expired licenses to provide new licenses to 533 persons.

The accused government officials include former TMO chiefs Sambar Bahadur Karki and Rajubhai Kusma. Mechanical Engineer Bijay Raj Giri, Kamal Syangtan, Achyut Prasad Phuyal, Prakash Karki, Reju Bhattarai, Roshan Rajbhandari, Shyam Sundar Chaudhary, Laxmi Shrestha, Maya Sethi and Richa Shrestha are among the TMO officials grilled by the CIAA.
