KATHMANDU, Aug 3: A senior government official currently serving at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) has been arrested red-handed along with Rs 2.2 million bribe money received from a service seeker.
A team of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) arrested Under Secretary Pramod Nepal along with the bribe money from the capital city on Tuesday evening. The CIAA team had followed him after receiving a tip-off that Under Secretary Nepal was receiving a bribe amount.

CIAA sources said Nepal was caught red-handed along with 600,000 in cash. An additional Rs 1.6 million was recovered from his vehicle.
Nepal had allegedly sought bribe from a tourism entrepreneur to grant license to operate paragliding. The tourism entrepreneur had offered him the bribe after unnecessary delay to receive the license.
